Introduction to NEMA Electrical Enclosures, Boxes & Cabinets

Welcome to Nemaco Technology's reference section that provides basic technical information for many types of indoor & outdoor NEMA box, enclosure and cabinet designs that are used for electrical wiring and electronics. Nemaco has dedicated this basic technical section for each type of indoor & outdoor NEMA enclosure to include simple NEMA 1 enclosures, stainless steel NEMA 4X enclosures, powder coated NEMA 12 enclosures and other custom NEMA enclosures. This is a basic summary of the enclosures available and types of NEMA ratings for each enclosure. The photo (shown on the right) is a sample of a NEMA 3R enclosure with rain shield on the top and a latched cover door. In the other specialized technical reference sections available there are descriptions of the each type of NEMA Enclosure and the relevant type of ratings & definitions. Nemaco provides some samples of the NEMA type enclosures in the the other sections. Also, the other technical sections provide many internal and external photos of the enclosures. NEMA Enclosure, Box and Cabinet Applications - Indoor & Outdoor

Commonly, NEMA enclosures are used for electrical applications with circuit board electronics for process controls in factories, utility stations and offshore platform applications. For additional information, Nemaco is providing a few topics on electrical and electronics enclosure design for a better understanding of the applications.

NEMA Enclosure, Box and Cabinet Sheet Metal Manfacturing

Nemaco offers hundreds of Indoor & Outdoor NEMA enclosures, junction boxes and cabinets with standard profiles that can be shipped in a fews to week depending the type of enclosure and size of cabinet. And Nemaco uses and requires top quality materials (powder carbon steel, marine epoxy coatings, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.) to protect your valuable electronics and electrical equipment.

Nemaco can customize many of the standard profiles for NEMA enclosures, junction boxes and cabinets modified to each customer's specific applications. The sheet metal NEMA enclosures are manufactured by using industry standard sheet metal equipment for precision and quality. But additional enclosure quality is ensuredy by skilled craftsman that fold, machine, weld and grind the enclosures for top quality.

Simple Indoor NEMA Enclosures, Boxes and Cabinets: NEMA 1 & 2

Just for basic electronic enclosures and small projects some NEMA 1 and NEMA 2 enclosures and boxes will do the simple job. Those NEMA boxes are low cost boxes for most electronic applications.

Outdoor Water Resistant / Rain Resistant Enclosure, Box and Cabinet: NEMA 3R

Also sometimes people use the NEMA 3R box for common electronics and simple electrical applications that go outside. Nemaco can offer this water / rain resistant enclosures and boxes. Since the NEMA 3R enclosures require more material and hardware, then typically, the enclosures cost more than the NEMA 1 & 2 enclosures. Often, Nemaco can customize and modify NEMA 3R enclosures per customer specifications.

Production Manufacturing for Enclosures

Nemaco can offer large production quantities of the small NEMA 1, 2, 3 and 3R boxes. For other types of applications that require better environmental resistant, then NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P and 12 can be used depending the requirements. The better enclosures tend to last longer than the low cost enclosures.

These Air Conditioned (AC) Cabinets have Mounting Tabs that can be bolted to the wall or any sturdy metal structure. The customer can choose external electrical Air Conditioners (available in NEMA 4 or 4X ratings) or air-power Vortex cooling systems.
